Over the past decade, the global workforce has been continually evolving due to several factors, such as changes in the business landscape, rising complexities, digital revolution, talent strategies, etc. The pandemic further challenged the organisations to deal with persistent uncertainty, changing work dynamics and employees’ behaviours.

Given the above, the Learning and Development (L&D) professionals have to constantly review and renew the learning strategies and processes to be more adaptive and adequate to meet the changing demands. Moreover, the multigenerational workforce, the onset of digital learning methodologies and a shorter shelf life for knowledge placed a premium on reskilling and upskilling.

There was a surge in demand for learning systems during the pandemic. We partnered with many L&D professionals to help retool or repurpose their learning programs by implementing Learning Management Systems and using available learning content.

We at eLearningMinds have been providing learning solutions such as LMS, eLearning content (bespoke and off-the-shelf), eLearning software and consultancy to corporate and educational organisations since 2004. We have helped companies to advance their agenda to build a culture of learning and growth using our training products and services.

Over the years, with our experience of working with many L&D professionals, we identified that there are three critical areas that organisations should emphasise if they want to achieve high adoption and employee engagement in workplace learning, which we refer it as The Golden Triangle.

What is the Golden Triangle?

The premise of the Golden Triangle is to help organisations build a well-defined learning culture with the right strategy, well-designed solution for the learning courses and customised interactive learning mode that stimulates learners’ interest.

The three components of Golden Triangle are:

  1. Learning Strategy – it focuses on a framework to design and develop the learning methodologies that would enable individuals to build the mindsets, skills and expertise aligned to drive change and organisation growth agenda.
  2. Content – it allows one to traverse and decide the best option that would help to address the learning needs; either by creating or curating the content available from different sources.
  3. Delivery – it provides a centralised digital learning platform to deliver the learning in an effective and engaging manner using multiple options such as ILT and VILT.

Let’s understand more about these three aspects of the Golden Triangle:

1. Learning Strategy

It is crucial to create a learning strategy that aligns with your business strategy and assists in identifying and enabling individuals to build the capabilities needed to achieve success. Every organisation has a unique learning culture. Depending on the organisation and individual learning preferences, a good learning strategy can help assess and employ every relevant and available learning method and technology.

Learning strategy emphasises on creating learning paths based on the organisation’s competencies and providing training through a structured approach (blended learning, online learning, ILT, VILT). It also helps the management and the L&D team putting up a system in encouraging the individuals to apply the learning at their workplace, constantly build skills and capabilities, and develop competencies required for their existing and future roles. It would also set up proper metrics that would help to gauge the effectiveness of the learning interventions and provide appropriate recognition to motivate and enhance engagement levels.

It provides a broad guideline to establish the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders apart from L&D team who drive change and build a learning culture in the organisation.

The right learning strategy would help to focus on where the organisations want them to be in the near-to-mid-future by concentrating on the right priorities and learning needs.

2. Content

Content is King in any learning process. It has to be relevant, simple to understand, stimulating and engaging for the learner. A well-organised and structured content with an easy-to-comprehend language in the learning material will help the learners achieve the learning goals or objectives. The relevant, concise, and visually appealing content ignites learners’ curiosity and encourages them to acquire knowledge and skills.

Different eLearning or self-paced learning content can be obtained by subscribing to the off-the-shelf content or by building bespoke content (through outsourcing or in-house development).

3. Delivery

There are different learning delivery systems, such as Learning Management Systems (LMS), Learning Experience Platforms (LxP), Content or Media Platforms, Game Platforms, Classroom Video Conference Systems, etc.

All our platforms have the following criteria

  1. Easy to use – allow users to have a good and interactive learning experience.
  2. Accessible– allow users to access the platform with multiple devices such as PC, notebooks, tablets, mobile phones, etc.
  3. Personalised – provide a learning path that considers each learner’s specific strengths, interests and needs and creates a unique learning experience based on those individual traits.
